About the guitar

This is Voyage Air Guitar’s top of the line guitar. Used some but in pretty much pristine condition. Sitka spruce top is beautiful and will sound better and better over time as the wood opens up. The rosewood back and sides are not only beautiful but also provide a warmth and shimmer not found in any other Voyage Air guitar model. A JJB Prestige 330 (nearly identical to a K&K Pure Mini) is already installed. There’s an additional 1/2 hole drilled into the bottom of the guitar to accommodate for another pickup of your choice. For another $250, I can install a MiniFlex Model 1, dual microphone system. If not, I’ll replace the hole with a high-quality, metal strap nut.

Specs:

  • Rosewood back and sides
  • Solid sitka spruce top
  • 1-3/4″ neck width
  • JJB Prestige 330 pickups (installed)

About the guitar

This was the very first Voyage Air guitar that I owned, the one that landed me my first endorsement deal with a company. It’s traveled with me a lot and had been my primary teaching guitar. However, as my needs changed and my guitar collection grew, this beautiful and out of production guitar, this spent more time sitting in a closet than being played.

I’ve made several modifications to it that make it a stellar guitar that out play many more expensive guitars to my ears. First, I personally made modifications to the neck to eliminate a fret buzzing issue that was common with this model. Second, I installed K&K Pure Mini pickups: they sound spectacular (especially with a good preamp), are passive (AKA don’t have to worry about batteries), and are used by many of the world’s most respected guitarists. Third, I installed a John Pearse armrest for additional comfort and to allow the body to resonate more. Fourth, I upgraded the tuners to Grover locking mini tuners. It makes restringing the guitar very easy as no winding is necessary.

Solid sitka spruce tops are beautiful sounding tonewoods but require many hours of playing for the wood to open up and sound their best. Fortunately, this guitar has seen many hours of play. The mahogany back and sides accentuate the mids. These woods combine to make for an incredibly punchy acoustic guitar.
