Why don't you charge a per-lesson rate?
In my experience, clients generally fall into one of two categories: those that value flexibility and those that value consistency. I cater to the later.
I devised my unconventional payment structure after 15+ years of teaching private music lessons. The monthly tuition is meant to save you money (it’s cheaper than my per-lesson rate), help you progress faster, and ensure that I am able to dedicate my time to plan the best lessons possible for my students.
What instruments can I learn from you?
My most popular instruments by far are piano, guitar, voice, and songwriting. I can also teach drums, bass, ukulele, hand percussion, didgeridoo, and Native American flute.
Can I learn multiple instruments from you?
Absolutely! You’re simply reserving my time, and I don’t charge differently based on what instrument(s) or topics you choose.
What happens if I get sick or have to cancel a lesson?
It happens. As long as you give me 12 hours’ written notice (email or text), we can schedule a make-up (when available). If no time is available, I’ll give you a $50.00 credit on the next month’s lesson. If I’m given less than 12 hours’ notice, your lesson will be forfeit as I will not have enough time to fill the gap in my schedule.
What happens if you get sick or have to cancel?
We’ll try to reschedule. If we can’t find a time that works, I’ll give you a $60.00 credit on your next month’s tuition.
How do I get started?
Great! Just fill-out the contact form below, and I’ll get back to you within 24 hours. From there, we’ll agree on a time and get started!
What if I don't like my lesson with you/need to stop?
It’s fine! I want to know right away.
If after your first session, you don’t feel that I’m the right fit, the lesson will be on me (AKA no charge to you).
Otherwise, you’re welcome to stop at any time. Please let me know before the start of the next month so I can adjust my schedule accordingly and stop billing.
Henry has been coming to my house to work with my girls for the past three years. Initially we started piano lessons on a small keyboard. My oldest daughter was 7 at the time and my middle daughter 5. Within a month of lessons, Henry explained that my oldest was really taking to music and it was time for an upgrade. We purchased a piano and I remember thinking at the time that it would be a worthwhile purchase if one of our children would be able to play Christmas carols as an adult. Given my lack of music ability, and my husband’s, I had my doubts…
Within six months, thru Henry’s guidance, Sarah was composing music and writing songs, this was not just a hobby but a passion! We have now added Guitar lessons for my oldest daughter as well and he has recently started working with my four year old. My middle daughter, now 8, can be a challenge, honestly music just isn’t really her thing, Henry has been able to persevere and has overcome many obstacles and she is starting to develop at least an appreciation and curiosity for music.
We have often reflected on what a lifelong influence Henry has had on our children, particularly our oldest daughter. We are extremely grateful for her having such a positive start to her her musical education. Henry is a gifted teacher and is very well trained.Dr. Amy Shoumer
I had the pleasure of having Henry teach me a few tricks on the guitar. He is an extremely patient, kind, and talented teacher. He can instantly understand what you need to work on to get the results that you want. His high-level understanding of music is hard to find. If you have the opportunity to book Henry for a guitar lesson, I highly suggest doing so before he is completely booked up.Brian Lieberman
I’m very glad I decided to take guitar lessons with Henry via Skype. The lessons were based off of what I wanted to learn, so very quickly I could apply the principles of the lessons to the music I made with my band.Mahir Maruf
